| A•spaces is the answer to all your
prosthetic storage needs.
A•spaces is a unique storage cabinet designed specifically for the needs of amputees. The concept was developed by Deb Schiel, an AK amputee, who recognized the need for an attractive and convenient way to store her prosthesis and keep her accessories and supplies organized. Deb was inspired to create a stylish and efficient cabinet to accommodate her special needs. A•spaces is the result.
 Losing a limb in never easy. I know first hand the fear, heartache, and challenges an amputee faces, as I lost my leg in March of 2000 to a rare form of cancer, Snoyvical Cell Saracoma. Hearing the word cancer I believe is a dreaded fear we all have. Knowing that your only hope of survival means becoming an incomplete human being through loss of a body part can break you or bring you to a higher faith. My heart breaks for all those like myself, and those who lose these same limbs from accident or the tragedies of war. Whether you lose your limb from cancer, accident, war, or fate of birth we all have one thing in common. That is our need to bring normalcy and dignity back to our lives. These needs and a desire for completeness and independence lead me to create A-Spaces. (for more on my whole story click here).As my body began to heal and my life became more familiar I could not get used to my supplies scattered around the house. The storage system I used for my leg was the corner of my bedroom. Every time I entered my room I was reminded of my incomplete physical being. There were times that I would accidentally knock my prosthetic over and be faced with having to schedule a realignment appointment into my day and incur another unplanned out of pocket expense.
After many hours of research, investigation and guidance I decided to reclaim my life back to it’s original state of normalcy. Hence, A-Spaces amputation storage cabinetry was created. Through trial and error I designed a piece of custom furniture that would take care of my need (3P’s).

My cabinet has allowed me to regain my independence, completeness, normalcy, and the dignity that I knew I had never lost. My beautiful cabinet fits into our home and we all feel comfortable with it’s presence. When my prosthetic is not in use it is being protected and stored in its sterile environment.
A-spaces creates a functional and beautiful piece of furniture that has provided amputees like myself the solutions we need for our prosthetics storage issues. More importantly, A-spaces can help bring the emotional healing that we all seek after the physical self is repaired.
